Charleston Grill, Leaf, Pane e Vino, Husk and more..

My most favorite place to dine, dessert, and drink is Charleston Grill inside Charleston Place Hotel. The Hotel is fabulous, and the restaurant, in my opinion, is the nicest, classiest restaurant in Charleston. The atmosphere is welcoming and beautiful. The Grill has live jazz nightly from a vast range of world-class musicians. The staff is also so amazing, truly the best service in town. We decided to go for some dessert last week and had some great dishes.

This amazing new joint,

just celebrated their one-year anniversary, changes their menu daily and only serves lunch and late night dinners (11 PM-2 AM). This is one of their veggie dishes with maple butternut squash, brussel sprouts, and pickled green beans. Delish!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Husk/ The Bar at Husk

What is better than Husk? The Bar at Husk. Their burgers are some of the best.. ever. The drinks are amazing, although I still hail the Gin Joint as the best drinks in town.

Husk opened in 2010 by James Beard Award-Winner Chef Sean Brock and has been a country-wide favorite in southern cooking. TIME.com dubbed him the evangelical leader of the modern Southern “lardcore” movement, which writer Josh Ozersky described as “the most purely democratic, un-status-conscious cooking to come along in a long time.”

CNN also published a great article about the restaurant, chef, and southern cooking, praising Brock’s innovative techniques along with the menu that changes daily. Husk was named “Best New Restaurant 2011” in Bon Appetit Magazine’s 2011 issue and by Southern Living. Lately it’s a little impossible to get a last-minute reservation, so we usually go to the Bar. The Bar is great, is in a separate building next to the restaurant, and has a delicious, limited menu.

Pane e Vino

Pane e Vino is a hidden gem in downtown Charleston. This is a small Italian restaurant on Warren Street in Radcliffeborough, right off of King St. Every dish is created using fresh ingredients, along with amazing meats and seafood. The breads are baked daily and the vegetables are local. Besides the food, one of my favorite things about this restaurant is the atmosphere. When you walk in you feel like you are in Italy. The restaurant owners are Italian and make some of the best pasta in Charleston, in my opinion. This is also in close proximity to College of Charleston dorms and classrooms, and right around the corner from the Design District with other restaurants and shopping. Tonight Snapper was served, and it was great. If you’re visiting, or are a local, I highly recommend it.

Another great restaurant that is right up the street from my place downtown, Leaf. This is a new restaurant that took over an older establishment called Vickery’s, renovated the building, and have had a ton of success with this new venue. The food is great, this is pan seared calamari!
